Cardiologists specialize in medical problems related to the heart. MMMC’s cardiologists emphasize a healthy lifestyle. They provide access to resources such as dietary counseling and cardiac rehabilitation. They also work closely with the interventional cardiologists and heart surgeons.

MMMC Outpatient Clinic Cardiology Services

Our services include diagnosis, evaluation, management and treatment for:

  • Heart attack (myocardial infarction)
  • Coronary artery disease (blockages in the heart arteries)
  • Congenital heart disease
  • Heart valve problems (leaking valves and valves that do not open properly)
  • Diseases of the aorta and other major blood vessels (aneurysm, dissection, narrowing)
  • Primary diseases of the heart muscle (cardiomyopathy)
  • Diseases of the lining of the heart (e.g. pericarditis)
  • All varieties of heart rhythm problems
  • Simple and complex elevations of cholesterol and risk factor modification
  • High blood pressure

Our Performance

Our cardiology program exceeds national averages on most or all quality metrics reported by STS. The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) established their National Database in 1989. The chart below illustrates how much better we fare compared to the national average.

Maui Memorial Medical Center Outpatient Clinic Cardiology Performance Chart: MMMC’s cardiology program performance is as follows when measured against the 2014 National Average: 0.0% versus 1.5% in Observed Mortality, 5.1% versus 7.9% Prolonged Vent, and 8.4% versus 12.0% for Any Complication. Data represents first time CABGs.
